GENERATIONS OF EXPERIENCE
Our History
Our story begins in the small Potamac Highlands mountain town of Harman, West Virginia, a community named for our ancestor, Rev. Asa Harman He was the original owner of the land on which the town was founded, and generations of Rev. Harman’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and beyond were born and raised in the junction community.
Throughout the mid-1900’s, generations of kin moved away from Harman and sought residence through the United States and the world, further carrying on the legacy of the Harman name. Donald Asa Harman, his great-grandson, was born and raised in Harman, eventually moving to the greater Mahoning Valley region of northeast Ohio in the 1970’s.
In 2004, Donald Asa “Ace” Harman and his daughter, Donna Harman, founded Harman Wood, an all-wood home decor and furniture store with locations in Benton Harbor, Michigan and Youngstown, Ohio.
Don specialized in finding uniquely made wood clocks, shelves, candle holders, plaques, frames, artwork, napkin holders, jewelry boxes, couches, dressers, mirrors, and other wood items at rummage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and other discounted used merchandise outlets.
Tragically, Donald Asa “Ace” Harman passed away at the age of 59 in Youngstown, Ohio on March 9, 2009.
His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, who later founded Harman Vintage in November 2020, in his honor and memory.
Our Vision
Harman Vintage serves to protect and build upon the legacy of the Harman name, curating and showcasing unique vintage or antique accessories, home decor, clothing, artwork, and furniture at value prices.
Our hope is to inspire families around the country to embrace the beauty, quality, and purposefulness of vintage materials and housewares from decades ago, while supporting the communities of southwestern Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio.
